off the shelf workshops

As an educator and a former actor I have a wide and deep understanding for actor training as well a pedagogical approach to my teaching. My workshops can either be customized for the group or from the off-the-shelf workshops whether it is an one-off, half day workshop or a regular, weekly series.

As a theatre company or institution you can either choose a workshop customized for your needs or to choose from the four workshops below:

  • Everything moves! – a journey from neutrality to authentic performance
  • The Living Text – a physical approach to text
  • Embodied Acting – a physical approach to performance
  • The Story Is Within You – a devising workshop
  • Acting for Screen
  • Introduction to Acting
  • Introduction to Directing

Two of the workshops THE LIVING TEXT and EMBODIED ACTING  are designed to work well together and can either be taken individually or in combination.

  • EVERYTHING MOVES! – A JOURNEY FROM NEUTRALITY TO AUTHENTIC PERFORMANCE
    Jacques Lecoq said;
“Everything moves.Everything develops and progresses. Everything rebounds and resonates.”In this workshop the participants are challenged to move away from personal obstacle and bad habits. Through the neutral mask the participants discover the state of physical presence and neutrality.  We explore the four elements; water, wind, fire and earth and what role it plays in both actor training and performance.
Through physical movements the participants explores the space, its possibilities and its limits

  • THE LIVING TEXT – A PHYSICAL APPROACH TO TEXT
At the majority of productions plays are approached by a read-through around the round table. This workshop is everything but that. Instead participants explores text and character behavior through a physical approach where also the unconscious mind play a major role. It offers techniques that invite the actor to unlock texts through physical and vocal exercises.

  • EMBODIED ACTING – A PHYSICAL APPROACH TO PERFORMANCE
Embodied acting allows the body and mind merge together and work in harmony. The process invites the actor to be in the moment and to develop stage presence. This workshop offers an opportunity to explore and deepen the actor’s understanding and experience of embodied practice through vocal, physical and emotional expressions. It explores movements and the power of non-verbal communication. It invites the actor to openness, curiosity and compassion.

  • THE STORY IS WITHIN YOU – A DEVISING WORKSHOP
In this workshop we open up our creative toolbox and embrace each participant’s unique interests, imagination, empathy and curiosity. Together in groups we build a number of scenes which we develop into stories. With the help of our bodies in motion, we explore the relationship to space, time, and each other. This workshop will give you a taster on how some theatre companies create new work and provide you the skill to embark on your own devising work.
